Funding of the project has been provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Our project is part of the special initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development "Transformation of agricultural and food systems". With its new special initiative German development policy is helping to combat hunger and malnutrition. Within the framework of the BMZ's core theme "Life without Hunger", the special initiative is an important instrument for achieving a rapid and effective impact and asserting the right of all people to healthy food. The special initiative strengthens the three fields of action of German development cooperation: food security, rural development and agriculture.
As part of the special initiative "Transformation of agricultural and food systems", the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development commissioned GIZ with the global project "Strengthening farmers' organisations for sustainable agricultural development" (GV StäbO). The aim of the project is to strengthen the role of farmers' organisations for sustainable rural development, with a special focus on smallholder farmers. The project supports farmers' organisations in Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and India and networks them with international actors.
Our contractual partner is GIZ.
